Aug 22, 2011 - Messy Pants 2: The Sequel

Saturday, August 20 Messy Pants 2:  The Sequel What a fool I was thinking our last game ride of the trip would be just more of the same ole same ole.  I forgot to factor in the part that this would be Daniel, the one-eyed game driver's, final game ride here.  It started off exciting enough with a front row parking spot at a watering hole with four hippos just lounging in the mud and passing gas like nobody's business.  From there we found the elephants and once again, Daniel, the OEGD, felt compelled to get us as close as possible whether...

Mar 21, 2010 - Richards Bay

Sunday, March 21, 2010 First Day of Spring Richards Bay We’ve been to Richards Bay previously, but we are heading back up the coast of Africa, so there will be a couple of places we’ll be going to again; however we’ll be seeing different things Our single excursion today was in the morning where we visited Amangwe Village (AV), a project whose aim is to provide a holistic approach to the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS initiated by the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation. Mar 10, 2010 - Richards Bay

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 Richards Bay, South Africa Richards Bay is a busy sea port, but not as busy as Durban, which is the busiest ports in the southern hemisphere. To take the pressure off Durban, Richards Bay was put into use. Coal is a major export also wood products and fertilizer. There is a paper mill and a chipping plant that sells wood chips for paper. Sugar cane, citrus, tropical fruit are also important exports Our first destination today was to a Zulu homestead; it looked like a village, but we were told the Zulus called it a...

Jun 26, 2008 - Richard's Bay Hotel

Today, we checked out of the Die Berg Nature Reserve. We packed up and took our luggage to The Richard's Bay Hotel, which is a beautiful hotel. We unpacked and we got ready for a day of water sports, which I love so much. We went snorkeling first. We got all of our gear on, took a boat ride out to the coral reefs. The water felt great because it was perfect temperature. The coral reefs were amazing! It was very beautiful down there. We were upset when it was time to go back to shore because we were really enjoying snorkeling. After...

Jan 24, 2008 - Richards Bay...en-route to Durban

Woke up about 8am and thought I would get up and get breakfast and guess what - yep the electric went off again...It was off for four hours this time which was a bit silly really. Fortunately it was a nice day though so I sorted out my stuff ready for leaving later and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the garden where I wrote my postcards and caught up on my journal. A few other people came and went. Dave came back from town about 1pm and said that he had decided we should leave Hluhluwe about 2pm and head to Richards Bay for dinner on the...
