Jun 14, 2011 - East London

Days 3 to something (we've already lost count) Still in Capetown, we took a bus around the finest spots (bars). We saw some interesting birds, monkeys, etc. and the beer tasted excellent under the sun. Before heading to the wine region and student town of Stellenbosch, we made a quick trip to Cape Point. The most southern point of Africa, and possibly the most windy! It was here we got very excited over a whale spotting only to discover it was an old shipwreck. Moving on to Stellenbosch, our stoner (actually) tour guide took us around the...

Oct 1, 2008 - September Holiday Cont...

Left for East London late morning to try and have some time at the shops and maybe even go sandboarding dependant on the weather holding out. The drive only took us an hour, shortest leg so far! This was Alex’s last night in SA so while we were at the shops we thought, What the Hell! Lets Suit-UP! and go out somewhere fairly upmarket. Both Alex and I got a suit (jacket, shirt, pants) for around Rand1000. So that’s just over A$100 for a full kitted suit :P . That night we all went out to a restaurant over the sea where we had the long...

Alex, Meredith and I all pack and head off in Ruans’ (New volunteer at Hobbiton From Grahamstown) Car to East London. The plan was for him to drop us off at EL to the Sugar Shack and he would then return back to Hobbiton. However on the way there it was getting late afternoon so we through up the idea of him staying the night with us in EL, so after little persuading he agreed. After a few drinks he had now decided to drive and come with us up to Durban 700km away. Our original plans were to catch a bus up to Durban in the morning but...

May 22, 2006 - Baz Bus

So my time at CDS has ended and our last night out with them was certainly one to remember. It actually started off by watching the Arsenal game in a bar in Knysna! But almost right from the outset the shots came out and varied cocktails (many of which were blue) were being sampled. Then followed much drinking and the night ended up with a visit to the now floating Baleia (boat) and a 2am dip in the lagoon (freezing saltwater!), oh and not forgetting a flat tyre on the way home. Very funny night. I'm now in East London (no not UK - it's...

Aug 27, 2005 - Day 103 - 104 Wilderness, Storms River Gorge and East London

At wilderness park we stayed in another ronduval, a very typical village house seen all over rural South Africa, a cold but cheap stay muffy and I got up and left, and so our experience of the garden route was finished we were tired of being cold and headed up toward east london. A quick stop and I got in a really fast hike and video of the trip out to the suspension bridge. I would highly recommend this stop to anyone who love crashing waves and great hikes. It was very nice, but muffy was waiting in the car so I had to make the trip fast,...
