Namibia – Orange River 23rd September After a 500km drive from Cederberg in South Africa we made it to our new campsite in amongst it’s ‘quarry like’ surroundings. Initial responses as we entered this rocky barren desert were that it looked like something out of a Mad Max movie (if you remember them?). The next day some of us opted for a Kayak ride down the Orange River which was a good way to see some of the wildlife that existed in this region notably the Goliath Heron (huge!).

In our travels we've found that our most memorable/richest travel experiences have almost always been meeting people rather than visiting important historical sites or breathtaking scenery. The stories or life lessons shared by others usually have a deeper impact on us than physical wonders. The Travellin Ts

Oct 18, 2005 - Citrusdal

Weather: overcast Landscape: edge of rocky, mountainous terrain I can already tell that it's going to be difficult keeping this weblog updated. This trip travels at breakneck speed and internet cafes are few and far between. A five hour drive brings us just north of Citrusdal. This is the Cederbergs region of western South Africa, with pretty and rugged scenery around us. Aug 25, 2005 - Citrusdal

Made our way to Citrusdal and took a dip int he hot springs. Things are coming to a head with Chris and Michelle who made us all feel like a bag of crap in connection with the upgrade they shared with Angela and Maria. Our last night in the tent - yaahhh! As per custom of a last night in a tent, it rained like cats and dogs (where did that saying come from anyway??) Had to put the tent down in the pouring rain - yuk! Drove over to pick up the others and the truck slipped off the road it was so wet. That happened right when John was changing...
