Sylvia’s Comments After a lively night in the pub, so lively that Jeff left his camera behind, we woke to mixed weather. You may have thought I was going to say we had sore heads! We walked around to the harbour, Jeff collected his camera and we booked our tickets for the Kawau mail boat run. This run, reputed to be the largest mail run by water in the Southern Hemisphere, goes out to the island on a daily basis. I am not sure on what they base this on, as it certainly was much shorter than the mail boat run we travelled on at Havelock....

Jan 4, 2007 - Leigh - On the Road

WE LIVE IN A CAR!!! Well for the next 4 weeks anyway. We rented a micro campervan...which is basically a station wagon with curtains in the back...so when you fold down the seats it turns into a cozy (well kind of) bed. It also has a tent portion that you strap onto the back of the car for added room. Once we got the car....and tried to adjust driving on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD we headed north of Auckland on the east coast. We ended up at a small town called Leigh and stayed at Goat Island on Cape Rodney which is a marine reserve. Spent...
