Mar 29, 2012 - A drive to the Tutukaka coast.

This morning Tony seems to have woken up with a sore throat and post nasal drip, probably courtesy of the long distance flight. After breakfast we dosed Tony and took off for a short drive to Tutukaka coastline. We just marvel at all the little seaside villages and marina’s - it seems no matter which way you travel you are at an ocean or bay. After driving around the area and picture taking we stop in to a restaurant at the Marina for coffee’s. They have another coffee culture in this country. Coffee and cream they call “flat whites” and...

Jan 18, 2012 - Poor Knights diving - "Sweet as..."

We've had a fantastic day to day diving the Poor Knights Islands marine reserve. Two amazing dives, or to use the local terminology - "sweet as" We've seen loads of rays, scorpion fish, king fish, hunting trevally, red snapper, jewel anemones and one nudibranch (they've promised me more of these tomorrow - for non-divers who don't know what they are - slugs!) On the way back we cheered on a rowing boat reaching the end of its trip from Sydney to Auckland. They looked tired and very skinny! A very laid back boat with great Kiwi dive guides....

May 7, 2009 - Poor Knights Islands – 6 & 7 mai

Nous sommes allés à Tutukaka un petit village côtier tranquille dans le but d’aller faire de la plongée sous-marine à « Poor Knights Islands » localisé à 23 km au large. Ce sont des îles intéressantes par leur passé historique avec les Maori et aussi très belles à regarder en bateau entre autre à cause de la couleur de l’eau d’un bleu profond, des grandes grottes et son long tunnel naturel assez gros pour que notre bateau puisse le traverser. Mais tout l’intérêt de cette sortie en bateau n’était pas tant les îles que la vie sous-marine qui...
