Mar 22, 2017 - Wine Country

Wine tour by bicycle this morning in Marlborough region. Driving to Nelson ( beer country) this afternoon. Arrived in Nelson which reminds me somewhat of Nelson, BC, except for the ocean part.. The drive through the mountains to get here was quite similar𯘁.. We found a very nice hostel and plan to stay a few days in this area to sea kayak and hike.

Apr 5, 2010 - Wine tasting... again!

The small town of Renwick took us to yet another wine tour, this time by bicycle! You simply hire bikes for the day, grab a map and cycle around the flat roads, taking your pick of many wine tasting establishments, all offering free tastings. We had beautiful weather for it and had a long, lazy lunch in a vineyard serving rose wine and cheese platters. Definitely the way to spend any afternoon!

Sauvignon blanc (Michelle's favorite) is the variety of grapes usually associated with this area, and famous wineries such as Cloudy Bay and Forest Estate are located here. We also tasted some amazing Reisling and Pinot Gris wines. We started at Forrest Estates where our host gave us a very thorough...
