May 16, 2007 - Heading North via Kerikeri

After leaving the Bay of Islands, our journey continued North along the coastal roads and our destination being Kerikeri. Once again, the roads were windy and isolated, we rarely came across other vehicles. The scenery was pretty amazing. For miles and miles all you can see is huge hills and mountains full of trees, massive valleys with forestry and the occasional house dotted about with breathtaking views. Feb 5, 2006 - Cooper's Beach

Wow, this weekend was the icing on the cake called New Zealand! We took the bus on Friday in the pouring rain and were met at Cooper's Beach by our friend, Fay Patterson. It was just minutes up the road to their bach and we dropped our bag and went walking on the beach. The rain had lifted and stayed away for the entire weekend. We walked along the beach and then up through town and back to the bach. We met Clive, home from work, and headed back to the beach for a swim and TuaTua collecting. Now Tua Tua digging is a cultural event bar none!...

Dec 17, 2004 - Cruising the Bay of Islands

17th dec, Piahia Our hotel takes campers and vans, so we have the facilities of the hotel to make use of,we have decided to stay here three nights and split the journey back to Auckland in two,stopping at the thermal pools paradise, ie, 26 pools heated between 20&30 c, some of them outdoors. One pool is a movie pool, where one can view a film whilst lounging in the pool. Graeme says he is not going in if they are showing Jaws, we will wait and see on that one.
