Jeff It was after midday when we left Invercargill but the journey is only about 70 miles to Papatowai, which is situated by the Tahakopa River Estuary and Tahakopa Bay. Our route travelled the main road to Fortrose, a small township where we bought fuel for the van, and then we branched off along the southern coastal route. This area is named after Captain Cattlin who purchased a tract of coast from the Maori in 1840.
