New Zealand is made up to two main islands and a lot of smaller islands. The two main islands are called North Island and South Island. Sticking up to the north of the North Island is a peninsula called Northland. The city of Auckland is located at the junction of the Northland peninsula and North Island. The country’s largest city, Auckland, is located at the country’s narrowest point. At one place, it is only 11 km across from coast to coast. Feb 9, 2007 - Wandering the coast

After a good breakfast at the caravan park, we headed off up the coast and turned down pretty much any road that headed towards the water. Some never made it as they dead-ended at ocean front farms that rolled away up the coast, but one turn took us to Aranga, where we just marvelled at the little beach front enclave and the peaceful setting. Then I realized I left my spare camera battery at the caravan park and had to drive back 45 minutes to get it. Jan 20, 2006 - Little meander to the city of sails!

The few days we spent in Ahipara settled a great little trip up North just perfectly. The trip back to Auckland ended up being a one day affair down the west coast, stopping off at the largest Kauri tree in NZ called Tanemahuta, a little walk in a Kauri forest and a slip past the turquoise blue lakes of Kai Iwi. A tad uneventful, but a good trip down the west coast. Oct 11, 2004 - 90 Mile Beach. Our first stop

Well, after both Angela and I working for a couple of months, we were ready for another break. Ha ha! So, we head off Monday morning to pick up our tiny little 'Sleepervan' so we can hit the road and see the rest of New Zealand. Now we knew the van would be small, but not quite this small!!! After the intial shock, we actually realised that it was really cool, and the perfect size for two short arses like us!
