Oct 21, 2004 - Kaikoura - To swim with wild dolphins

We arrived late in the evening in Kaikoura and parked up our van in the car park for the night. Kaikoura (meaning meal of crayfish in Maori) is famous for it's abundant marine wildlife - all kinds of Whales, seals and dolphins love to hang out here. Apparently Cook landed here in 1770 thinking it was an island! We awoke to the sound of the surf and headed to straight off to book ourselves on one of the many dolphin watching tours. By 11am we were fully suited up - with wetsuit, gloves, booties and hoods - and were on the boat heading out...
