Well, I'm on the way. Flew out of Napier early this morning, in Christchurch and on the road in my Tui Freedom camper by 9.30. Its an older model but fully self-contained with everything I need. Stocked up with groceries and away on the open road by 1130. A very gentle first day, getting used to a manual gearbox, driving the mostly very flat straight roads of South Canterbury. Aug 31, 2012 - Driving Day One!

Driving->> Day ONE! Today was a day filled with driving.. lots of it! We started off in the morning from Westport. From there we journeyed to find the lighthouse at Cape Foulwind… not too far from where we were! We were able to find it within a few minutes… very simple, but still a lighthouse. I got a picture, Gran! I’ll make sure to tag you when I upload them! While walking around the lighthouse we saw a little flightless bird… I freaked, cause naturally I thought it must be SOME kind of kiwi… but it wasn’t.. it was a Weka! Cute little...

Apr 13, 2011 - NZ Day 11, Cheese, Jams and more

Drove down the coast making it into Christchurch/Canterbury region. Rainy day again but beautiful views none the less. We drove into the town of Geraldine. Went to the grocery store and stocked up on food. Went to the to taste some jams and chutney. Bought some awesome strawberry jam and some premixed lemon lime syrup that makes 5 liters with water. Went to the Cheese Factory and bought some Gouda with Cumin, Garlic and Chive Gouda, strong white cheddar and a mild blue cheese brie - they are fabulous for those cheese lovers out...
