'What happens in Barrytown, stays in Barrytown!' This would suggest we had a crazy night and all got up to no good but actually only 4 of the group made fools of themselves and the rest of us watched, rolled our eyes, drank tea etc and went to bed! ha! A VERY random place! VERY!!! The first picture says alot.... This was also the only pub in the town!

Driving down the west coast the scenery is becoming increasingly stupendous, rugged coast sandwiched between high mountains. The drives themselves are becoming a little bit longer, but they are continually punctuated by little stop offs on the way for photos, activities and all that goes with that. Making our way from Abel Tasman to the west coast we followed the Buller river and gorge for quite a long time. Despite apparently always being on a tight schedule, trying to get to the next stop by a certain time, indeed probably for the bus...

Mar 29, 2009 - West Coast - Part 1

Cette journee se resume en un tour d'autobus. On a conduit toute la journee pour se rendre a Barrytown ou communement nomme Barry no town! La route etait magnifique, c'est une des 10 plus belles routes au monde. On s'est arrete pour prendre des photos, c'etait trop beau! On a fait un premier arret pour voir une colonie d'otaries et une deuxieme fois aux Pancake Rocks. Ce sont des formations de rochers qui ressemblent a des crepes empilees. Assez impressionnant! Aug 6, 2008 - Why Barrytown?

8.30 we departed, quite a nip to the air. Did a few stops as we headed down the coast to Barrytown. Hope Saddle - short walk up to a look out point between marahau and murchison, took some photos of the green mountains around and off we went again. Murchison - cafe stop. Tauranga Bay at Cape Foulwind - short walk to a seal colony, didnt beat seeing the seals at Kairkoura tho! Irimahuwhero view point and The Trueman Track in Paparoa National Park - another short walk this time down to beach where there were some interesting rock formations...
