Massenbaden in waermenden Pools - das hatten wir uns weit weniger lustig vorgestellt als es dann tatsaechlich wurde. Bewaffnet mit einem Spaten zogen wir los, um "Land" zu finden, das Loch zu graben und unser Revier zu markieren. Schon nach drei Versuchen stiessen wir auf heisses Wasser - sehr zum Verdruss der anderen Schaffenden die neidisch auf unseren Erfolg schielten. Jan 26, 2006 - Coromandel Peninsula

Well, our friend Christophe was right- this was pure magic! Windy with water on the left and rocks on the right. We went up, we went down, we went though hair pin after hair pin. It was a bikers dream road. The speed limit signs went from 25km/h to 45km/h and in between the speed was 100km. That was tough to get up to due to all the turns. Fun. The camping here is great. All the camp sites we've been staying at have full cooking facilities, showers, bike wash areas, playgrounds, you name it. NZ take their holiday parks very seriously. So...

Feb 4, 2005 - Coromandel Peninsular

The drive to the Coromandel peninsular only took us a couple of hours. The first stop was the town of Thames which is south west of the peninsular. We had been considering staying there the night until we saw it! Needless to say weren't overly impressed and after a brief look round we decided to continue up the west coast to the town of Coromandel. The peninsular is well known for its scenery and natural beauty and we were not disappointed. The hilly, winding roads make for very slow progress but the views are well worth the effort. Along...
