A fun bike ride among all the windmills in Kinderdijk. The windmills pump water into the rivers allowing the fields to be planted. Hundreds of windmills still exist in the Netherlands. The entire Netherlands is under sea level. From there we bused to a dairy farm that produces cheese. Gouda of course! This family’s farm is in its 4th generation using 250 cows making Gouda cheese. We met the farmers daughter who gave us a tour of the cheese factory. After lunch we had an informative tour of Dordrecht. A major shipping port where 3 rivers...

Jul 30, 2015 - Dag 1 - Doei

Vandaag ben ik vertrokken uit Nederland om morgen vroeg (6:45) vanuit Brussel met mn fiets in het vliegtuig te stappen. Dit is een briljant plan omdat ik vannacht lekker in een hotel bij het vliegveld zit en morgen vroeg met een shuttle bus naar het vliegveld zal worden gebracht. Kat in het bakkie! Mijn allerliefste ouders zijn meegegaan om me uit te zwaaien op station Dordrecht. May 31, 2011 - Windmills

On Tuesday it was raining when we woke up. Really raining. Vancouver rain. And Captain Michele suggested he would motor further along the river to get ahead of the weather. So for 90 minutes we scooted along the river to where the weather was a little more bearable. We dressed up in our rain gear and Brenda put a pair of socks to keep her hands warms.
