Apr 29, 2013 - Home to Snow

As we did not do any photography on the way home, I have put in a number of pictures of the common means of transport in Holland - the bike. I had described the bicycle situation to one of our fellow passengers before we got to Amsterdam and I know he thought I was exaggerating when I spoke of multi-storey bike parking lots and the omnipresent bikes with the right of way, but after he had spent the day there, he realized I had not told him half of it! Well, another very successful trip with perhaps a couple of disappointments or surprises....

Apr 28, 2013 - Last Stop Arnhem

We were up before the alarm this morning to see the sun as we sailed to Arnhem. We docked as we started breakfast. We went up to the lounge afterwards where it was very cold. We sat for a while then went to our warm cabin and got ready to go out for a walk, first to the John Frost Bridge. The bridge is the "Bridge Too Far" of the movie when Frost was the commander of the regiment which eventually had to surrender to the German forces when the communications broke down, the supplies were dropped behind German lines, and other misadventures....

Apr 27, 2013 - Zutphen & Doesburg

We were again underway before we were up this morning and when we rose we were back in the land of canals with "scenery on both sides, mainly flat farmland, but with the occasional village and campground. We had breakfast then went up to the lounge and watched the scenery while we caught up with our photos and journal. Unfortunately, the Internet was not connected so we could not update the web site. We arrived at Zutphen while we were eating lunch and we disembarked soon afterwards. There was a walking tour, but it was not leaving...
