Today we drove from Rundu southwest to the eastern edge of the Etosha game park. The landscape remains very dry, scrub land. About lunch-time we stopped by the Hoba meteorite (near Grootfontein), it is supposedly the largest know in the world. All 60 tons of it hit the earth about 80,000 years ago; its made of iron, nickel and cobalt. It was essentially a big chunk, rectangular, of metal which was floating around in space not too long ago (geologically speaking), would've hit with quite a bang I'd bet.
