Today we had a long drive from Spitzkoppe to Etosha National Park. Now we are really starting to see animals! Giraffes, elephants, springbok, oryx and many others were close to the road and we snapped happily away. I'm so glad I have a new camera, the zoom is fantastic for taking photos of the animals. Once in Etosha and set up, we piled back on the truck for a drive through the park. We couldn't get out of the truck in case we got eaten, and had to be back in the campground by 6.50pm or we would get into lots of trouble, but in our two...

Sep 20, 2011 - Etosha National Park, Namibia - Sept. 19 & 20

Early rise on Monday, Sept. 19th heading for Etosha National Park, Namibia's premier wildlife reserve. We stopped on a deserted gravel desert road where our guide Ishmael prepared a delicious lunch - we've had a few roadside lunches - he's a great cook! This was also a bush toilet stop... The temperature is back up in the 30's as we're heading inland again. Upon entering the park we saw zebra, wildebeest, impala, giraffe, lions, elephants, secretary birds, ground squirrel, mongoose, some kori bustard birds, vine snake, guinea fowl and oryx....
