Nov 16, 2015 - Puebla .....

9 hours later and not the expected 12 I pulled into a HUGE bus station which turned out to be Puebla. I hoped on a bus and found my hostel - Leonora. It was VERY cool, an old colonial building that had been restored with a restaurant and bar downstairs in the courtyard with a band playing as I arrived. Upstairs I was shown to my 4 bed mixed dorm room - just check out the pictures not the standard dorm!! Day one in Puebla and I headed out to breakfast with a couple of people from the dorm. We thought a crepe would be a good fast option -...

Mexico 2015

Feb 27, 2015 - Puebla

Wednesday 2/25 This morning we got on our bus for the drive from Mexico City to Puebla, about a two hour drive. We were on the toll freeways, which were very nice roads. After miles of urban sprawl, we went through some wooded hill country to the next large valley where Puebla is located. We could see the snow covered mountains at one point. Puebla is a smaller city of 1.5 million. Our hotel is right in the historic center, so it was easy to walk around and see the sights. The central square, or Zocalo is lovely—trees, fountain, great...

Nov 20, 2013 - The Historic Ciudad de Puebla

BMW Shop...New Spark Plugs....It's amazing how the BMW shop charged for the parts but not the Labor. They were extremely helpful, helping us as soon as we pulled in and the greeter then repaired the bike. Amazing service and he could tell what the problem was with the bike within 30 seconds. And is correct, but did not have the part. Fort Collins BMW is shipping new spark plug wires that are failing to our friends house just outside of Guadalajara. They will arrive in a few days when we do so Justin will have partial throttle until...

Tour de Mexico

Aug 15, 2011 - Puebla

I am off to Cuernavaca (hopefully; haven't bought my ticket yet). Anyway all is well. I haven't experienced much of Puebla as I am quite tired and travel weary at the moment. For the mist part I read, walk around and have long lunches of soup, chalupas, enchiladas or flautus. I am really loving Mexican food right now. Really LOVING. They have these set lynches, one place in particular that give you several courses plus desert and juice for 3.50. I am reallygoing to miss this restaurant. I am going to the bus station in half an hour to try...

Jun 6, 2011 - Puebla

Hey everyone, Sorry about the delayed entry but I haven't had a whole lot of time to make entries lately and Oaxaca didn't have very great Internet in the hotel I was in so I decided to make it up once I got into San Cristobal de las Casas. Basically Puebla was quite a nice town and a significant change from Mexico City. Puebla has approximately 1.5 million people in it so it felt rather relaxing to be there (compared to Mexico City's 22 million). We got into town in the afternoon so sight-seeing ended up being a bit on the short side. I...

May 26, 2011 - Puebla

Jan 4, 2011 - Puebla

On the 2nd January we grabbed a bus to Puebla - one of the most beautiful cities we have visited so far. The historic centre (5 minute walk from our hostel) is a UNESCO world heritage site and was surrounded by restaurants on three sides and had one of the biggest most beautiful cathedral on the 4th. We got in late afternoon so spent our time hunting for food and wandering around. On the 3rd we decided to test out our Espanol and went on the Turibus - the local open top tour bus - entirely in Spanish. From what we could make out, we saw...

Jun 23, 2010 - Puebla - Mexico

June 23, 2010 I am not sure what time it is. I am writing this in a small cafe in Puebla. Puebla is a large city about 180km´s south of Tula de Allende and just south east of Mexico City. I think it´s before noon. I left Tula de Allende around 8:30 this morning. It was cold. +/-2700m. The drive cost me 238 pesos in toll fees. Caro. The roads where perfect with lots of signage. Puebla is Mexico´s 5the largest city with a population of 1.3mm. Puebla was founded in 1531 and is at an elevation of 2160m. I thought I was going to have difficulty...

Apr 5, 2010 - Day 3 - Puebla

Day 3 2 hour private bus to the Church of Chalula. Built on top of an old Pyrmaid, if offered some great sites of the small city. Unfortunatly we couldnt enter the ruin due to both instability, and a recent find of a new room. We arrived in Puebla arround noon and our hotel overlooked the Zocola (park at city center). Very wealthy city, very clean and many gardens. The whole group aggreed, an afternoon was not enough time in this city. 8am the next day we hop another privite bus to Oaxaca.

Jan 27, 2010 - Puebla

Left hostel before 8am hoping to avoid the rush hour on the Metro but...still, it was very easy getting to the south bus terminal, even easier than Norte. Got an economy bus which saved us 50p ($4US each) and the only difference was no on board toilet and no movies which are only in dubbed Spanish w/o subtitles anyway. Less than 2 hours and great views of snow capped volcanos (2) and pretty agric countryside (again, mostly corn grown), we arrived in Puebla...very easy to get a colectivo bus outside station which took us (or would have, had...
