I continue to be blown away by the generosity of the Japanese. Today we were met at the hotel by our goodwill guide Noboru. He took the train with us to Tajimi, home of Mino-yaki. At the station we were met by Noboru's friend Ikuhara Shibata. He comes from a long line of potters and volunteered to drive us around. We started off at Kobei-Gama, Iku's uncle Takuo Kato's famous kiln. There was a fascinating exhibit on how he introduced Japan to Persian style luster ware. The work was absolutely beautiful! Dec 9, 2007 - Autumn Colours ... my nice little find ...
Today, I decided to view the colours in Jokojii which is a town that I pass by on the train to one of my country schools. I kept thinking that I have to come here. I was going to go to Kyoto to see the colours, but I detest crowds. I wanted it to be a quiet event. I chose here ... and I am glad I did it. Little did I know that this place is indeed a National Park. It is called the Aichi Kogen National park or something like that. Anyways ... it was a great find!
