We arrive in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday 22nd April at 20.30hrs. The flight over from Hong Kong was 3.5 hours approx. Quite appropriately, we watched Memoirs of a Geisha on the way to Japan. Having queued at Passport Control for about an hour, we eventually got let into the country! Just in case you're wondering, we weren't the only ones that had to queue - the Japanese have some of the strictest passport control procedures in the world and they go through your passport with a fine toothcomb. Mt brief stay in Tokyo was exciting and unfortunately not loing enough. I arrived late at night and after 3 hours of making three changes on local subway system ( which ny the way is the easiest thing in the world once you get use to it and one of the best systems Ive seen) I finally arrived at my hostel. That consisted of a cubicle the size of a walkin closet with a sink and toilet but no shower.The bed was a bunk bed with a dresser and wardrobe under it. The Kodokan On Friday, I left Darlene, and was hosted by a tour guide for one day. I had the opportunity to visit the Kodokan - a location in Mito, where the Samurai warriors learned to read, to write, to perform swordmanship, and to embody the philosophy of Samurai. The main entrance is the one which was only used by Samurai - others used less important entrances. This entrance had not been opened for 13 years, and it was open for the first time, on this day.
