Tsumago Wed 19th Nov. Beautiful morning, but cold. 7:30 Breakfast in the Magome-Chaya restaurant was smaller than dinner(thank goodness) but still satisfying. At 08:30 I set off for Tsumago, a really pleasant 7.6km mostly good wide trail which climbed the first 2km to Magome Pass. Good Autumn foliage in the mountains, but would have been magnificent 2 or 3 weeks ago. There were still plenty of patches of colour along the way. Nov 18, 2014 - Nakatsugawa to Magome

Magome Tue 18th Nov. Sunny/cloudy and cold. Starting from Nakatsugawa Railway Station, for the next three days I'm walking the Nakasendō Way. There were 69 post-towns or juku(inn) along the Nakasendō, the 'central mountain route' connecting Edo(Tokyo) to Kyoto. From the 45th post-town, Nakatsugawa-juku to the original site of the 41st, Midono-juku at the north end of Nagiso Station, the trail covers about 22km.
