Friday 4th November - Day 19 on the trail... My call caught Bob in the Post Office about to post a letter home :^) He had been to Temple 35 and planed to visit 36 (about 12km to go at lunch time) and stop over for the night there. Bob was rather chuffed to report that he had caught up some time. By the time he had reached Temple 5 on day 5 he was about four days behind his planned schedule. Nov 2, 2005 - Overnight at Temple 34

Bob did 4 temples on Thursday, spending the night at Temple 34. He enjoyed a hot shower - his fourth shower in 18 days. Said he spent 1-and-a-quarter hours in the shower and took the opportunity to do his laundry. He was in time to enjoy the morning ceremony conducted by a single priest - for one congregant and Bob. All is going well. Shin is sensitive to the touch, but supposedly on the mend. The arch of his right foot (all on the same leg) has started to hurt and is easing off with the application of the pad for his shin.

Sep 23, 2004 - Kochi

Ehime Ken - Iya to Kochi and on to Matsuyama In this area, Mari says people are very kind to pilgrims. (ie People will let pilgrims use their toilet.) The distances between temples can be as much as 87 km - a long walk. The road is designed to permit easy walking with a small sidewalk and a good shoulder - it would be great for biking. The 100 Yen store is awesome. We would never have gone into this store, except that Masao needed more underwear. This is not your average Loonie store. One does not need to launder clothes.
