May 12, 2006 - Free Day in Tokyo

Met with some of our group and decided to visit the Tokyo Museum of Modern Art and the Science Museum. Took the subway, an intricate system with lines going in all directions. "Pushers' are available at peak times to shove people in when the cars are full. We got on one train, but it was an express train so we missed our destination. Then our tickets didn't work but when the bells went off as we were trying to exit one part of the route, a kind security person issued us new tickets. China - May 2006

May 11, 2006 - Tour of Tokyo

We were up early for a tour of Tokyo. First to the Tokyo Tower, the highest self-supporting steel tour in the world built in 1958 - Eifel tower is 320 meters high, Tokyo Tower is 333 meters high (3 is lucky Japanese number). Then to Imperial Palace Plaza. Imperial Palace is only open to the public on Jan 2 (national holiday), and Dec 23 (Emporer's Birthday). No Emporer to say hello to us! Went to Asakuasa Kannon Temple.
