May 14, 2012 - Hunting for Manta

Today I went out snorkeling with Umicoza Dive School. It was just me and a Dutch girl (of Chinese descent) with a Malaysian boat captain and Japanese dive master. I was lucky that English was the chosen form of communication. The boat captain served as my guide around our first stop in Yonehara. I wasn't thrilled about having to stay with someone, but it was a bit tricky getting through some of the shallow areas. It was only frustrating when I wanted to stop and take photos. May 13, 2012 - Rain Check

I had every intention of getting up early this morning and going to the ferry terminal. The weather apparently didn't read my itinerary. Instead of braving high seas I entertained myself by playing around on the computer and even watching a movie on my iPad. Eventually I got hungry and decided to go venture into town. The concierge was kind enough to provide me with a bus schedule (in Japanese)

May 12, 2012 - Naha - Ishigaki

In the morning I took the monorail to Naha airport and boarded a short flight to Ishigaki Island. It was not too impressive from the air, but I did love that all the airport staff (in their matching floral shirts) came out to bow to the plane. I had booked myself in to the Intercontinental because it was conveniently located near the airport.
