Nov 5, 2013 - Bijaipur campsite - Bijaipur castle

Bijaipur campsite - Bijaipur castle Up at 6am, cold sponge bath and hair wash (hot water coms on at 7am we heard later), 6:30am yoga at lakeside. That was peaceful and perfect with the lake in the background and the rising sun. Sitting on our "porch", looking out over the lake, the sun getting warm and breakfast being made for us - a very good life! After breakfast we go back in the jeeps, our luggage in a cart pulled by one of the jeeps and leave this peaceful place. We stop in Balcha and do a walkabout. Balcha is a farmer's village almost...

The jeep we were in had seen quite a few years of service! The sun was a fiery ball in the sky, beautiful. A sort trip to the Bundi train station for our 2 and a half hour local train ride to Bassi (not the...

Life is good as the sun rises over the lake in Bijaipur and we are greeted by the dawn chorus. This morning at 9am we are packed and in the jeeps on the way to our next destination, shamefully forts and palaces are drifting into one. We drive around villages visiting the local farmers and are greeted by children in dirty clothes but with beautiful smiles. Age old farming methods integrate with 21st century technology, fate and destiny rule here and people only buy possessions with a purpose so mobile phones and motorbikes are owned by...

Where's Jolly?

Sep 20, 2007 - Bijaipur

We were up early this morning to catch a local train that would take us from Bundi to Bassi where we would get a jeep that would take us to Castle Bijaipur. The train was only fifteen minutes late which was good by Indian standards and when we got on we could hardly believe our eyes.......most of the seats were full....people were either sitting or laying stretched out on the seats taking up all the space.......they were even laying on the luggage racks above the seats. Adrian, Craig and Barb got to sit down while Raj and I stood in the...
