Aug 13, 2009 - McLeod Ganj - 2

One of the first things that I was determined to do when I got to Mcleodganj was get rid of all the trekking gear I no longer needed to free up space and get rid of the weight, so off I trot to one of the trekking outfitters here. Eventually got rid for 900 roops and a...

Travels of a Kinnie

Jul 28, 2009 - Back to Macleodganj

After buying my bus ticket for the overnighter to Delhi for 2nd August from the company ticket counter (not taking any chances this time), eventually get on a bus for Macleodganj which is about 10km of winding road up a hill, having allowed my conversation with a very attractive German girl off alas to Pathankot, to make me miss an earlier one. Another bus for Macleodganj gets ready to go, and then following the lead of some locals jump on that one instead, only for this bus to then reverse into a parking bay to sit there with the engine...

Travels of a Kinnie

Nov 13, 2007 - Lama Spotting

When the Dalai Lama and his entourage escaped from Tibet some fifty odd years ago they trekked over the Himalayas and eventually landed up in Macleod Ganj just north of (and significantly up the hill from) the town of Dharamsala. The Tibetan government in exile is now established there seeking a peaceful solution to the invasion of their country. When he's not out and about spreading the word about his country's plight my good pal the DL hangs out here too. Unfortunately though, as he's a very busy man, he doesnt grant audiences straight...
