Sep 13, 2017 - At anchor in Big Cave at Fiscardo, Cephalonia. (Yeah!!!!)

This is our map of the day. The first is our overall journey. . The second is our specific location in the bay of the Big Cave. What a lovely, windless sunshiney day. We have broken free from our captivity at Effimia. We were all ready to leave. As we were leaving the harbor the paparazzi that captured us on fil in Atokos, also captured us here as well. . Cursing Northward along the Eastshore of Cephalonia felt great. We had the soft winds in our face, and calm waters to take us back to one of my most favorite places in all of the Ionian...

Sep 12, 2017 - Agia Effimia (Storm delay day #2)

Good Morning from "us prisoners" on this overcast, very windy day in the harbor of Agia Effimia. Breakfast for all humans and cat is top be served in the salon. Nelson was at his perch, looking for his dish of milk. Sitting patiently right now for Marina to get un-busy and see to his needs. . . Marina, unfortunately for Nelson has been called to duty by Jacques, who is trying to buy Ann airplane ticket from Rennes to Cannes. . Unfortunately for Nelson -- he continues to wait, wait, wait. The winds are forecasted to be the strongest this...

Sep 11, 2017 - Agia Effimia (Storm delay day #1

Good rocking/rolling morning. Milena was restless all night, pitching one way and then the other. The wave action was truly bumpy in the harbor -- but nothing like what it was like the other side of the breakwater. Breakfast got rudely interrupted by the howling winds, and a bareboat charter, trying to moor next to us. The wind was blowing in circular motions, then bouncing off the land, and trying to push the new comer right into the side of Milena. All of us were on deck, armed with fenders, and trying to keep our balance in the howling...

Sep 10, 2017 - Agia Effimia (safe port for upcoming storm forecasted)

Our main concern for this beautiful, sunny day on the isle of Ithaca, and port Vathy, is TO LEAVE! We are due to have another storm cell move into our area. Vathy, Ithaca is facing West, and the storm is coming from the West. We can not stay here, because there will be little to no protection. The safest, and best place for us is in the harbor of Agia. Effimia, stern tied to the pier. It is so hard to believe that this beautiful day is going to turn on us! In talking about the last storm that we experienced in BIG BOY bay. -- Jacques said...

Sep 9, 2017 - At anchor in front of Vathy, Ithaca (1 day storm delay!)

--------- continuing coverage of the storm and it's aftermath --------- 1:45a.m. I left off yesterday (or actually earlier today), with Milena at anchor in front of Vathy, escaping the hulabalou of The thunderstorm, which drove us out of BIG BOAT bay. All of us, and Millie, soaked to the skin, trying to dry out, and peel off wet gear in the salon. Excitedly, and thankfully we each flopped down in the salon, and our 3 shots of Grand Marnier.... to celebrate our safe harbor, "For the moment..." as Marina would say. Exhausted we say...

Sep 8, 2017 - At anchor in the BIG BOATS bay (The return to), Ithaca

After breakfast, and before leaving Sivota this morning, Marina ran into town to pickup supplies. She returned in less that 15 minutes, with 4 x 1/2 gallons of Rose table wine. . Handing the 4 bags full of wine off to Jacques, she got out of the boat, and held the lines for Jacques, . Now, we are ready to depart. Looking back over toward Sivota, I took one last picture, before we pulled anchor and left. . . On our way we saw . Just after seeing this funny little flag decorated boat, we stopped off for a quick bite to eat. What a yummy...

Aug 23, 2017 - At anchor in front of Fiskardo (Day #2), Cephelonia

This morning, right after a bee-less breakfast, Jacques, Marina and I went into town to go grocery shopping. I am cooking dinner tonight.... so before I could finalize the menu -- I had to figure out what this little store in Fiskardo had. . . On our way into town, we spotted the kind of catamaran we have reserved for our Bare Boat charter in Bora Bora. . After we filled up two carts in the grocery store, and peeled our goods in a shopping cart to the wharf where the dinghy was tied. It was at this point that we helped Jacques load the...

Aug 22, 2017 - At anchor in front of Fiskardo, Cephalonia

We are back to my favorite area of Cephelonia. This time we did not anchor in front of the bestest spot -- 'THE HUGE CAVE", but along the wall, at the entrance to the harbor. . Hmmmmm..... where does Jacques want to put Millie?? . Ahh.... I think I found it.... . Gee, Jacques saw this, too. "Okay,Marina -- it is all up to you, now", I found myself saying in a low voice -- as I went to grab a fender to help our entry just a little bit more protected. Where Mehmet was is a mystery..... I was first on the port, with fender, and tieing.......

Aug 21, 2017 - At anchor B. Dolicha (Everti), (Day #2) Cephalonia HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACQUES!!

Good morning from our second day at B. Dolicha.... and this is a special day, because it is Jacques' birthday. His choice for today, was to stay here one more night, and head off for supplies at Fiskardo tomorrow. Breakfast omlette as normal. This is such a wonderful way to begin a day, washing it down with fresh squeezed orange juice. While Jacques was bustling around in the galley, I entertained him with Happy Birthday song, sung in French, and a selection of one of his favorite French singers (who has now been dead for many years) Edit...

Aug 20, 2017 - At anchor B. Dolicha (Everti), Cephalonia

Good morning again from the deck of Milena. Today I was spoiled with a cheese and tomato omelette. Fortunately I did not have to share it with any bees. . Jacques and Marina have been trying to secure supplies all morning. First the butcher was not open, then the fruits and vegetables at notarrived at the market. We finally got underway a little before 1:00p.m. -- . . Cruising up the coast in a Northerly direction toward Fiskardo, we stopped for a late lunch, and overnight at B. Dolicha (Everti).. . Such a pretty little spot and lot of...

Aug 19, 2017 - Ag. Effimia (day#3): Campbells disembark the Milena

Milena' day began horribly early -- 4:00a.m.!!! David and Priscilla's plane leave Argostoli at 6:45a.m., which is about an hour taxi ride from Ag. Effimia. Jacques had ordered the cab to pick the Campbells up at the stern of Milena by 5:ooa.m. As alarm clocks are ringing in their different voices at all ends of Milena, the smell of coffee filled the air. Bless Marina -- I wonder what time she had to get up to have the salon table set, coffee made, and bread sliced, by the time each Campbell app reared at the table. Griffin and Skyler were...

Aug 18, 2017 - Ag. Effimia (day #2) /. Melissani Lake Cave/ Campbells last day :-( :-(

Good Morning. Our breakfast was light, and there were NOT an over abundance of bees, for once. Jacques was trying to ar Range a car/driver to take us to Melissani cave. There were none available. Jacques took David into town, and they arranged for a rental car, before returning to Milena. . We all finished our breakfast very fast, and got ready to go to the Melissani cave. David had rented a small 6-passenger van. The cave is probably only 10 miles away, but took us over a half hour to get there. David did a masterful job of driving, and...
