Sep 17, 2012 - Sydney, Singapore, Istanbul, Athens, Kos

So I have arrived on the island of Kos and joined my friend Malcolm on his yacht Freya. As I mentioned on my intro page Malcolm and I met on Jennifer sailing with Lars in 2007. Malcolm has now bought his own boat which is nearly the same as Jennifer. So it is like coming home! Very comfortable and immediately fun. On board at the moment are eight of us - 5 Swedes, 2 Australians and Malcolm who is British. A very good group. The group will change dynamics as crew come and go. We are based at Kos Marina which is walking distance to the old...

Jun 20, 2012 - KOS

GREECE: We have never been on a holiday where every day starts out with a perfect setting, blue sky, shorts and sandal temperatures with a nice light cooling breeze. In the evening sitting at a table by the sea side sipping an ice cold beer watching the people and harbour activity….makes for some nice lazy down time. KOS: We caught the ferry from Bodrum to Kos, a little Greek Island an hour off the coast of Turkey. A very cool town in which to do some chilling out. Very pretty and Canadians are a novelty….”How did you get here?” The old...

May 9, 2008 - Sailing the Cyclades, Greece

We are finally sailing! Sailing this 52' yacht is a breeze! I am learning to SLOW down and enjoy boat life. Alberto is teaching me to sail as well as teaching me that life doesn't have to be in high speed all the time. It feels great to relax and enjoy life at sea. The days are long and filled with sunshine and a cool breeze...this is how life should be! Alberto is also teaching me how to cook...he's Italian and won't let me near the kitchen. I set the table and do dishes! Yesterday I woke up at 7am, had a coffee & breakfast, sailed a few...

Sep 10, 2007 - Kos

KOS! Well, I have to say that we didn't see to much in our time on Kos, as we wanted to relax. However, we did manage one excursion. On the eastern side of Kos, there are natural hot springs that come out the mountain scolding hot and meet the ocean. At this point there is a a rock barrier creating a thermal bath. It is a very wierd senstation as you will be sitting in the hot springs, when a cold wave we come in from the ocean. The only other note I should make is that we rented a "buggy" during our stay. As you can see in the pictures,...

May 20, 2006 - We have escaped the lotus eaters!

We haven't gone very far, but we have moved on an island yesterday to Nissyros. Nissyros is a volcanic island, so I hope to have a picture of something other than beaches for you. The main town is a very pretty place, very Greek, with narrow alleys, white and blue painted houses and lots of cats. We are staying in a hotel for a few days - very pleasant and 30 euros a room for two. Nissyros is also cheaper than Tilos. I think this is because the island has substantial income from the pumice works on the offshore island of Yiali. They are...
