Our weekend started on Friday 10 October at 3pm. At this time we walked down to the STC bus station in Accra. We were getting a bus to Hohoe where we were going to spend the weekend. The journey took a lot longer than we thought and at 9:30pm we arrived at our hotel, The Galaxy Hotel. Unfortunately our first experiences of this hotel were not out of this world. We had to wait 40 minutes for some rice, had cold showers and the bed was not made. We were still fairly happy though. This was the first time we had been out of Accra so it was good...

Jun 24, 2008 - First Impressions of Ghana

By Eric It’s hot and humid…. And I love the people! We arrived at our volunteer placement in Hohoe, Ghana (pronounced ho-hway) a few days ago. The living quarters are very similar to Thailand and India except that there’s no air conditioning and no internet connection. Our clothes have a perpetual dampness and odor to them that is impossible to remove. After a few days here, our bodies have adjusted somewhat to the heat and I am not sweating 24 hours a day any more. Overwhelmingly, the main thing you notice in HoHoe here are the people. We...

Jan 5, 2008 - Ho Hoe

Got up ate and hiked to highway where we got a trotro to Atimpoku that the 4 of us just managed to fill and away we went...By 11 we had ckd into Adomi Hotel near tro tro stop, got a taxi to the dam(largest reservoir in the world by area). One hour later we had returned to hotel having decided the ferry trip for 5 hours was not worth the 20 bucks. The gal let us chk out giving us our money back and we continued our travel N to HoHoe.
