Feb 5, 2008 - Jaco Beach Tuesday

There was a musicfest here Saturday night until 5 AM. "Daddy Yankee" is some guy from Puerto Rico. I think he is reggaeton. Since I was comfortable in this condo, you can be sure I didn't leave the house until today, Tuesday. Yes, that means I never even went to the pool since I got home from Super Bowl festivities on Sunday. I just read my book, did crosswords, reveled in having cable TV and some network programming. I even ran out of beer. It was the last weekend before Tico kids went back to school so there were droves of little ones in...

Dec 31, 2007 - Jaco, CR and Picks of the boys being boys

Did you read the sign next to me? The picture was taken in Jaco, CR which is known as a party town. Pretty much the Daytona Beach of Costa Rica. It was nice spending a night in Jaco, and not because of the sign:) It's going through a ton of development which means there are modern amenities....including our favorite coffee shop so far in CR. It does not replace the Atomic Cafe in Beverly, MA but the bagels and coffee definitely hit the spot. A little shout out at John, Adam, George, Tom, Wes and the Levin's our Atomic Cafe crew....we miss...

Jaco, a very big resort town full of American Hawaiian shirt tourist types and was described to be by some fellow travellers as "...its alright if you like 17 year old prostitutes and transvestites!". Needless to say I really didn't have high expectations and was going to avoid it at all costs but the surf is supposed to be excellent here so gave it a try. Met a great character, Victor, in his 60s on the bus that decided to share his life philosophy with me telling me "I'm 60 you know and I loooovvveee pussy!! Won't stop til I have to stop,...

EZ Duz it!

Mar 4, 2007 - Montelimar Beach Resort Nicaragua

We spent three days at this 5-star resort. Our package was all inclusive. Meals, drinks, snacks, pools, tennis courts, and shuttle rides, golf, horseback riding, and entertainment was all covered. Not a good place to stay on a diet! Again, the temperature was ideal for the pools, mid 90's in the day and 70's at night. The meals were buffe, with many choices and all you can eat. Some guests actually rented a room, for an additional $26/day and had a break from their 'smaller' home on wheels. Next year we are going to recommend the Company...
