Feb 13, 2013 - Pool day in the sun.

Today was our first full day of full on sun. It was hot for breakfast! We started of with coffee severed at the cabin , then moved down to the beach for fresh fruit and then eggs and French toast. Hung out at the pool most if the day and Brad wondered around shooting some pics with the big camera. Brad got a nice red flood on the shoulders as we walked up the road to the local store. It's about a 10 min walk. Next we are off to the Banana azul for dinner and drinks.

Woke up this morning and Will had us fresh coffee and a set up in the beach for our breakfast! Nice. Got a cab into town for 4 bucks U. S. then we walked around most of the day. Real nice people and the town is very friendly. People really love to live here and they tell u that everywhere. We booked our next 7 days as well in a funky little hostel recommended by the boss man Erling himself. So now we are booked for the rest of our trip. Lol Rox just called me In as she saw a litte mouse in the cabina. It is very cute and looks like a...

Feb 27, 2012 - Puerto Viejo

Sunday, February 26 After a relaxing breakfast, we packed up and walked to the bus stop. The ride was very scenic on winding roads with lots of rain through rain forests, banana and pineapple plantations. The driver allowed us 10 minutes in Limon where again I envied the men and their ability to pee anywhere. Off the bus we loaded the bags on a truck and walked to the hotel. By then we were dripping with sweat and ready to find the sea so we all changed and headed off. The walk along the beach through an almond grove was gorgeous and nice...

Jul 21, 2011 - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

After San Jose my new group took a bus ride to Puerto Viejo which is an amazing scenic village surrounded by white and black sand beaches. I ended up renting a bicycle with a couple of people and rode down to Manzanillo. It was quite a relaxing bike ride and was a nice change of pace from the long bus ride. I also spent some time at a sloth sanctuary which was really cool. They had everything from howler monkeys to sloths and it was amazing. At one point in the sanctuary you can actually go in one of the areas with tons of monkeys and they...

Woke up to rain today and proceeded to cycle in the rain (on our rented bikes - like the upright german ones with only reverse pedal braking - im sure you can pity me, Helen!) to a nature reserve. May 11, 2011 - Day 2

Got a coach from san Jose to Puerto Viejo. It was mean to take about 4 hours, but due to a landslide we had to take a detour which took 7 hours. The driver was a maniac-alternatly flooring the brake and the accelorator. I spent most of my time in the crash prep position. The hotel is really nice, with hammock and private beach and massive crabs. Also saw a possum! Had quessadia for tea, which was yummy.
