Whew, last night was a windy night. A lot of trees blew down in the area so electricity was out all night. In the high elevations there is a lot of rain, however we did have lots of sunshine. Again we did not go to the waterfalls that I had hoped to see because of the rain & fog in the cloud forest. As we drove along we saw lots of fallen trees and crews out cleaning up and working on power lines. We opted to walk through the Else Kientzler botanical gardens instead. Costa Rica 2016

Feb 9, 2016 - Grecia low and Granum high

This morning we headed toward Bajos Del Toro with the plan to drive to see this spectacular waterfall. However it is in the cloud forest and often there is too much rain and cloud to get any view. Today was one of those days so after we were part way up this very scenic, winding road with increasing rain and cloud, we decided to turn around and try another day. Instead we walked around in Sarchi, a town famous for the beautiful woodwork and furniture. We browsed in some of the woodworking shops with furniture, chess boards, trays and bowls....

Costa Rica 2016

Feb 8, 2016 - along the Pan Am hwy and into the Central Highlands

This morning we left Quepos about 9:00 am, already about 28'C, headed back along the Pan Am hwy, then toward Grecia area. Hwys are not marked well so always relieved when we finally figure out that we are on the right one. In the central highlands if you take the wrong road you end up on the opposite mountain range and have to go all the way down to get on track again. Fortunately we took the right roads.
