Sep 16, 2019 - Quebec City

We left muggy and humid Florida on Air Canada, landing first in Montreal. The airport is huge! We walked over a mile to get through customs and to the gate for Quebec City. Every sign is in French and English and everyone is bilingual. Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas is very nice and our cabin is great with lots of storage but, alas only 2 plugs, 2 glasses and no robes. However our cabin stewards, Sahil and Marix, took care of those problems. At the Duck and the Dog bar (which turned out to be our favorite watering hole on the...

Aug 7, 2019 - Quebec City

Aug. 7, 2019 - Drove from Bainville, Ont. to Quebec City. Got to KOA in Quebec, City around 4:00. Had a good driving day, but I messed up at the end and we went closer to downtown Quebec City in rush hour traffic, than we needed to. Good thing Alvin is easy going and doesn't get rattled easily. The traffic got a little crazy and it could have been avoided. I better smarten up or he may look for a new navigator!! Met a couple staying in the rv park from Timothy Lake. Started raining when we went to bed. Aug. 8, 2019 - Was raining fairly...

Jun 24, 2019 - Tour of Quebec City

June 24, Monday Wow!  What an awesome day.  The weather was sunny and warm (probably about 75, but felt warm when in the sun), with a slight breeze.  We took a shuttle (nice air conditioner double decker bus) from the campground to catch the Hop on Hop Off  bus in Quebec City. It stopped a few places along the way to pick up other people. The narrated hop on hop off bus tour was fabulous.  There were 14 stops and it took about 2 hours. The architecture is so beautiful. It was a mix of old and new, with some beautiful old buildings.  We...

Jun 23, 2019 - Edmondson, NB to Quebec City, Quebec

Sunday, June 23 We awoke to a bright, sunny day, about 50 degrees.  We gained back the hour we had lost, so left about 7:30 am Quebec time as we only had to drive a little over 4 hours today. We are spending 2 nights in Quebec City, and touring the city tomorrow.  The views were beautiful. From the top of a hill, we could see the huge, gorgeous Grand Lac Squatec. We filled up in New Brunswick at 1.16 per liter and the next gas in Quebec was 1.25. Winds were moderate today, not nearly as bad as yesterday, and sometimes there was no wind....

Jun 7, 2019 - Hic, hic

On the road again! A rather early start today - especially after the more relaxed ones of the last few days - with all of us on the bus and away by just after 8am. There were quite a few weary, bleary eyed people as our dinner the previous night, while delicious, ran rather late with us not getting back to the hotel until about 10.30. However, in true trooper style, we soldiered on. :) Under ever increasing clear blue skies, we headed back towards Montreal and then finally to our overnight destination- Ottawa, the capital city of Canada....

Jun 6, 2019 - Olde worlde charm

The wonderfulness continued today. Under beautiful blue skies and with deliciously warm weather, we explored Quebec at our leisure. I started off, before breakfast, by walking the whole 5 minutes to the parliament building. I wanted to have a look at it and capture some photos - not only of the imposing building but also the stunning displays of tulips - before the crowds turned up and got in my way. As it was only 7.30 am, I was pretty much alone and able to get my happy snaps. After breakfast, Cheryl and I walked down into the old city....

Jun 5, 2019 - With all these hills, I might just come back as a mountain goat!

After not getting to bed until about 11.30 last night, following the wonderful Cirque du Soleil, I appreciated having another later start to the day. While Cheryl was up early, I stayed in bed and relaxed. We don’t get too many of these types of mornings so I wasn’t going to waste this one. By 9.45, we were all on the bus, following the picturesque St Lawrence River and heading towards Quebec. The sun was again with us and all was right with the world. As we drove along the countryside was lush and green; the St Lawrence River looked...

Arriving at the village of Sainte-Petronille we took a 45 minute walk down one of the streets with Judith telling us about the area. We then boarded the bus again and our next stop was Chocolaterie de.l’ile d’Orleans where we stopped for a snack. I had a vanilla...

May 27, 2019 - Montreal to Quebec City

We are up early again today!! 5am! We are taking the hotel shuttle this morning to the Dorval Via Rail station to take the train to Quebec City. We boarded the train at 8:11am and arrived Quebec City at 12:15pm. Kimberly and I shared a Turkey sandwich and chips on the train. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get out of Montréal on the train as we had to back up and change tracks before heading to Quebec. A very slow process. We are staying 4 nights in Quebec City at the Hotel Manoir Victoria. We checked in and got the keys to our room. We went up...
