Aug 17, 2014 - Day 8 - Timmins

2:00 PM - we are sitting in a Tim's checking email, etc. , about to find out where there is a laundromat. The sun has come out so we need to get out and enjoy it. The sun stayed out most of the day. We did get our laundry done, made a visit to Canadian Tire for a few items and stopped at a Metro store for some food items. We sat outside the laundromat in our camp chairs and enjoyed the sunshine (the first in a few days). We made it back to the campsite early enough to sit out in the remaining sun and take a walk around the park.

Aug 16, 2014 - Day 7 - Temagami to Kettle Lakes Provincial Park

We got away from Island 185 about 10AM. The boat ride to the access road was a lot smoother than the trip to the island, and the Temagami Access Road didn't seem as bad going out as coming in. We stopped for a few minutes in Temagami for a coffee, drove through New Liskeard, a prosperous and attractive looking town on the shores of lake Timiskimimg, stopped for a few minutes in Cobalt and had lunch in Engelhart at a popular local spot called "Sisters Restaurant & Cafe". We arrived at Kettle Lakes Provincial Park at 4:15. Once we set up, we...

We were happy that we had a GPS as it took us right through the heart of Winnipeg and we found the exhibition grounds with no problem. .It was the last day of the fair and being a sunny day, it was fairly busy. There were a lot of carnival rides and commercial exhibits as well as a large netted area full of 30,000 butterflies you could enter and sit or walk among the beautiful butterflies. After a look around, we got our lunch of perogies, cabbage rolls and sausages and sat and...

Jun 21, 2008 - Week 1- Victoria - Northern Ontario

So here we go. I haven't had too much time to actually stop in any one place along the road for more than a few hours (other than Herbert Sask, but I'll tell you about that later...) I'll just give you some of the highlights of the past week on the road. I started off by missing the 5pm ferry in Victoria by two minutes and the promised 6pm never appeared. I guess the theme of this is make plans, sure, but be prepared to take what comes as well. Deep breaths, a beautiful ferry ride, ahhhhh. I rolled into Surrey to load up on some water (and...
