Aug 6, 2019 - Upper Canada Ontario

Left Kingston and drove down HWy. 401. Were passing by Upper Canada Village and decided to stop. Spent about 4-5 hours wandering around the village. There were a lot of workers in costume and it was interesting speaking to the people in 1866 year. Had lunch there. It was very hot 30c Tonight we're parked in Bainsville Ontario for the night. Had a nice family from Gillam, Manitoba parked next to us. This is when they were looking for the 2 fugitives in the Gillam area.

Aug 5, 2019 - Niagara Falls

Patti and I met and lived in Buffalo for awhile. While we rarely went to the Falls except when we had out of town guest, it is after all, on of the seven wonders of the world. Anyway, we have been back to the area countless time over the years but had never gone up the road to see them. We figured it would be a quick trip: drive up, get out of car and take a couple of photos and leave. Long story short it took about 8 hours. Big changes over the nearly forty years since our last visit: much more commercial, lots more people, no where to...

Aug 3, 2019 - Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is very busy, probably not the best idea to be here on the August long weekend. Bought a day pass for the WeGo bus that goes around Niagara Falls. Caught the bus across the street from the RV park. Saw the falls and went up the tower for lunch. After lunch, walked along the park bordering the falls and caught the bus back to the park. Got back the RV park after 3:00. We were hot and tired so had a bit of a rest. Had a light supper and worked on figuring out how to do the blog.

Aug 2, 2019 - Cottage Country

Drove from North Bay to Niagara Falls. Was a beautiful drive through cottage country. Stopped in a church parking lot for lunch. Busy drive down the 401 into Niagara Falls on a Friday afternoon of long weekend!! Got to Niagara Falls around 3:00 and we were hot and tired! Had a nap before heading downtown for supper. Very commercialized around the falls!! Had supper at a buffet that was okay. Are staying at Scotts RV Park. Didn't know if we'd find a place to stay, as we didnot have reservations over the long weekend.

Jun 11, 2019 - Another driving day - back in USA

After yesterday and last night’s excitement, today was a little more sedate and calm (aka lots of snoozing on the bus). In order to avoid lengthy delays at the US border crossing, we were dressed, breakfasted and on our way just before 8 am... and by 8.30 had been cleared to enter America and were travelling down the highway. The land was green and flat... and the sun was shining down. Our first short half hour toilet/ coffee stop was at Rochester at 9.30. (Boy, it takes a long time to get us all off and on the bus!) Back on the road before...

Jun 11, 2019 - Night time spectacular

Well... we made it to the light display at the Falls. It was a little windy but there was absolutely no rain! The walk down then UP the hill was well worth the time and effort! I can’t believe that only 4 of us from a tour group of 48 took the time to do it! So, so glad that I did!

Jun 10, 2019 - A bloody beaut, bonza day!!!

I awoke this morning, at about 6.15, to a most unusual and unwanted sight - the sky was leaking! This wasn’t a good sign for the day to come. A day that involved Niagara Falls and a helicopter flight. Would the weather improve? Time would tell. Not to keep you in suspense for too long..... everything turned out bloody beautifully!! Although I didn’t see the sun at all today, the rain stopped for me to go on the helicopter ride but again I have jumped the gun and told you the ending before the beginning and middle! We boarded our bus at...

Jul 19, 2018 - Day 51 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Woke up this morning to the coldest inside temp since we left Tucson. 66 degrees. Downright chilly for the morning dog walk. We head for Niagara on the Lake and it is just fantastic. Small town right on Lake Ontario. Could not have been a more perfect day. We're amazed at the number of wineries we see on the drive. The town itself is incredibly picturesque. Quaint old buildings and shops. We spend about an hour at the park at the lake and then find an Irish pub for lunch. After lunch, we hit a local winery and take their tour, which is...

Jul 18, 2018 - Day 50 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

After experiencing the crowds and traffic yesterday, we decide to try the park shuttle to get to the Falls today. It's a great move. The shuttle driver gives us a short history tour and takes us to his favorite scenic overpass before dropping us off at the main tourist area. It's the first time either one of us has been up close to the Falls, and it's an awesome experience. Just spectacular. We spend about an hour walking along the bank and every viewpoint is better than the previous. We decide to have lunch right there and get the last...

Jul 17, 2018 - Day 49 - Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

Take the dog on an early, long walk around this massive RV park. There's not just RVs here, but a lot of permanent manufactured homes as well. Must be 2nd homes fora lot of well healed folks. Since we're a little concerned about how hard it will be to get across the border into Canada, we roll out a little after 9. Interstate all the way to the border, and it's in no better shape than yesterday. Dog is miserable the entire way. We fill up on gas just before hitting the border; thinking gas in Canada must be more expensive. We roll up to the...

Oct 25, 2017 - My First Trip To Canada

I came to Ontario for a work trip. I do not have much time to see or experience many things, also their list does sound tempting. To be honest, it is so cold compared to home, I don't feel like doing much. I was checking my weather app from home that I downloaded from Google Play, but I was still not prepared for the cold yet. But I have to admit, it is a beautiful country! The opinions expressed are true, mine and I have not been compensated for them.

Aug 30, 2017 - Last day in Niagara

Breakfast in hotel dining room and left bags at hotel reception. Called Greyhound to book an evening bus from Niagara Ontario to Buffalo bus station and from there I would have to make it to the Buffalo Depew AMTRAK station (quite separate and quite a distance from the Buffalo bus station. Caught the WEGO bus to the Visitor Centre and walked along the path beside the falls to the Hornblower terminal. Donned another ponch and boarded the Hornblower boat for the half hour trip to the Falls. Travelled past the American Falls and into a cloud...
