Drive thru Lake of Woods Region to Canada 1 (TransCanada Hwy) Mountains, many rock piles on side of highway (look like shrines, some pretty clever, some very high up) Long, boring drive to Winnipeg. Closer to city, flat ands with hayfields and lots of yellow fields (?)Few cows. (What do they do with all that hay?)Overnite at private campground (Shady Oaks) just west of Brandon. No nearby grocery stores but heated pool! Showers required one "loonie" (Canadian dollar) per 3 min and Ron showerd outside camper.

July 21 – Day -29 Kenora – Caliper Lake Provincial Park K’s 130.68k Time 5h 11m Average speed: 25.16 k/H T to d 2930 k Finished the breakfast duties on my switch so that now we have Tottenham off for visits at home. Somewhat frustrated today as the support staff are useless and I seem to be the only one that will bring up the issues. I needed a hard day on the bike to clear my mind and so Terri rode a good part of the day with Bruce and Dee Dee. Jul 19, 2008 - 29 Caliper Lake

Our first full day in Ontario reminded me of many of the places I lived in as a kid. Often when we came around a corner we had a view of the road going by a lake. Woods, rocks, water are the things Northern Ontario is made of. The prairies had relatively frequent very small villages and towns. In this part of Ontario we basically rode 80km before the first town (Sioux Narrows). As usual many TdC riders stopped for a second breakfast. It was another 50km to the town/hamlet of Nestor Falls. May 28, 2006 - Kenora & Fort Frances, Ont

On Friday night May 26th, after we did our journal entry we settled down for the evening as we were at a campsite 10 mi. from Kenora, Ontario at Longbow Lake. During the night we had a terrific thunderstorm with lots of thunder and lightning. It continued on into the morning and we were unable to go to the garage sales as we planned.
