Jul 29, 2009 - Region K Rally, Belleville, Ontario,Canada

Unfortunately not being able to access the internet for the past five days has delayed my journal writing(and my memory). July 23rd found us on our way to Belleville, Ontario for the Region K Goldwing rally. We were hammered with rain for the entire ride (this was the worse day for rain that we have experienced on our trip). At the end of a long day we were once again lost. As we were sitting (in the rain) trying to determine where our motel was we had a phone call from John and Peggy Dubose (they caught up with us to attend the rally). It...

Jul 30, 2008 - Onto visit Doug's Bud in

First to the National Gallery. The building is impressive but not open until 10:00am. I forgot – I am in the Nations Capital and, like banks of yesteryear only open at 10:00 for their benefit. As always, I head to the Impressionists. This of course thanks to Debbie. The collection is very good and then off to the Renaissance and they have some works of Rembrandt but alas no Vermeer’s – oh well, can’t have it all. Then around the contemporary and the Asian exhibits – both pretty interesting. The only thing that pissed me off is that every...

Jul 27, 2008 - Day 56

Day 56 Today’s Plan; Drive the length of southern Ontario. We rise early to get away early. Nice plan. We leave a half hour later than scheduled. No problem. We have all day. Actually, today will be a long one. We want to be at our friend’s place somewhere north of Belleville by late afternoon. A 6+ hour drive. We start out in farming country north of London, but have no idea what to expect on the route we have chosen across northern Toronto. It’s a strange thing, but lots of thoroughfares in Ontario go north and south, while few go any...

Aug 17, 2007 - Quality Time in Belleville

We started our travels with a trip out east to visit Jenine's sister Katie in Belleville, Ontario. After that we jumped down to New York to see Todd's good friend Mike. We had a great time in Belleville with Katie, Andrew, Norm and Gwen (who travelled from British Columbia). It was really great for the three siblings to get together. That hasn't happened in four years! We spent some time shopping in Kingston and ate at some great restaurants. We toured around Prince Edward County to the cidery and the cheese farm. Ribfest was finger...

Jul 12, 2006 - Quinte Isle, Ontario

July 12 - Picton, Ontario We took our time leaving Grenville Park so we could play some basketball and enjoy the waterfront before moving on. We only have 145 miles to go today. On the road we stopped at the Flying J gas station in Napanee as they seem to have the best diesel prices in Ontario. We are checking out a new area of Ontario that we did not visit in our 12 years of living in Toronto. Quinte's Isle Campark is south of Picton adjacent to the Sandbanks Provincial Park. It rained on route and continued until dinner time. We saw on...

Jun 7, 2006 - Quinte on the Hook

44 06.8 77 28.6 Anchored Pine Pt., Bay of Quinte After a very leisurely morning, recovering from the previous nights attack, we are on our way for the remaining 5 nm of the canal before turning north up the Bay of Quinte. This is a rather famous cruising area in eastern Lake Ontario so we are excited about finally arriving by water. Our destination today was Belleville, Ontario but we decided to lay anchor in this little cove and hope that the lee cover will protect us from the anticipated light easterlies tonight. The kids fish and...
