Urbania, NS www.raftingcanada.com The sign on the edge of the deck gave us the stats: Highest tides 28 feet, generally during the days surrounding a full moon....which was on Friday. Wow... we couldn't have chosen a better day! Sign at the desk - yesterday's tides 25.7 feet...that is pretty high! The Shubenacadie River is a shallow and wide river, with sandy bottom. The sandbars fill the centre in many places, with the channels along the outer edges. The water flowing upriver at 28 km/hr over the sandbars causes all sorts of crazy currents...

Jul 31, 2005 - A Visit with Krista and Her Family

I tried to wake the boys eary enough for a swim this morning but not quite early enough. They were relatively quick to rise but by the time we had got everything packed up it was time to drive to the ferry. It's too bad but they all handled the disappointment very well. We got onto the ferry without trouble and had a beautiful crossing. The boys met a friend on board and had a great time hanging out. Our visit to Nova Scotia had been planned to hook up with my friend Krista and her two boys Jake and Jeff who are vacationing in Nova Scotia...
