August 26 – We are going to West Pubnico; there is an Acadian Village here that is representative of how the Acadians lived in the 1900's. The Pubnico area is the oldes Acadian settlement in the world. There are several houses, a boat builder, blacksmith, fish processing, wharf and public building. All of the buildings had people in them dressed in the period and ready to explain anything you wanted to know about life for the Acadians at that time. Aug 18, 2012 - Acadian Shore ~ Day 2
I awoke in Yarmouth to more fog and clouds on the harbor. After a brief stroll on the harbor walk I moved on to the wharf and then the Firefighters’ Museum of Nova Scotia. This was an interesting collection of artifacts, photos, documents and just about every type of fire engine used between the 1800s and 1930s, including Canada’s oldest horse-drawn steam engine.
