Aug 18, 2017 - hanging with 900 of our new best friends!

18 August Time to move on down the highway so off we go to Martin’s River which is about 20km from Lunenburg. Once set up we head back up the highway to the peninsula where Peggy’s Cove is situated. The drive along the coast (I know, we are beginning to sound like a broken record!) is spectacular with wonderful bays, coves, inlets, wharfs, houses, rock breakwaters, everything a drive along a coast should be!!! In particular this area feels calm and serene with manicured lawns cascading down to the water’s edge framing beautiful Victorian...

Jul 18, 2014 - Mohone Bay Nova Scotia

July 15, 2014, After getting set up we drove down to Mahone Bay, a little town about 5 miles from the campground. We stopped at the visitor’s information center and met a real nice lady named Judy. She gave us some great info and we drove downtown to look at some of the sights she recommended. We stopped at a real nice little pub called the Mug and Anchor and had a beer and some French fries with gravy. We then came back to the campground and relaxed. We do get TV here so we caught up on the news and watch some of our shows. July 16,2014 We...

Aug 9, 2013 - Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia

We visited Mahone Bay twice--on our way through and one day we drove back to it. This scenic little town came highly recommended by our German hosts at the bed and breakfast the night before. They had a festival going the first day which made it extremely crowded. The second day was much nicer.

Aug 17, 2012 - NB to NS

Thursday morning was more FOG! In spite of the soup, we had time to visit the Reversing Falls in Saint John, New Brunswick. We arrived about 9:30 AM when the water was at "slack tide," which means about 20 minutes of still water in between low and high tides (when the high/low is level). High tide would be about noon. However as the tide started to move toward "high" we could see the water starting to reverse up the rocks and began to get faster and faster. As we had a ferry to catch, we couldn't stay to watch the water continue to rise....

Oct 2, 2011 - Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia

Constant rain during the night with times of heavy downpour, apparently the residue from Hurricane Ophelia. We moved over to Mahone Bay this morning and will stay here for two nights. Mahone Bay is a picturesque village on a large bay with about 3000 residents and 9 churches. This weekend is their annual Scarecrow Festival and Antique Fair, what a bonus to pull into a place and find this interesting event! We drove around and looked at the different displays of scarecrows. The theme was a royal wedding and Mahone Bay was in competition...

Jul 6, 2010 - Mahone Bay & Lobster

We are really enjoying our time in Canada. We have decided to stay for the months of July and August, and possibly longer. :-) Nova Scotia is just beautiful, there is so much to see and do, we don't want to leave without totally exploring as much as we can. We enjoyed a scenic drive from Glen Margaret to Mahone Bay. We stopped at so many beautiful beaches, I can't even remember the names of all of them. Ollie loves the beach and is enjoying it much. He is older and gets tired fast, but he still likes to wet his feet. Our last stop was for...

Aug 27, 2009 - Mahone Bay, NS - Peggy's Cove Revisited

(Ron Writing) Yesterday’s waffle breakfast was so good we decided to have an encore! After breakfast Elena did some cleaning and I finished up a little home improvement project I started yesterday. The sky was perfectly clear when we got up this morning and instead of soon clouding over as so often happens, it stayed bright and sunny all day. When we were ready to leave the campground the weather was so beautiful that we decided to drive back to Peggy’s Cove to see how it looks under the bright sun. It was a short 5-mile drive and was well...

At Rayport Campground in Mahone Bay, NS, we found internet service, so I could upload all these pics. The campground is out of the way, but adequate, with a friendly, helpful staff. We drove down into Mahone Bay and Nunenburg. There wasn't much to do, but the view was beautiful.
