Aug 8, 2014 - A Rainy Day

It was cooler overnight and raining in the morning. There was no site available at our next destination, so we extended our stay. (We had to move 20 feet to accommodate someone with a reservation.) We had lunch at the 748 Restaurant in Beresford. Marcia had to try poutine deluxe (frites, hamburger, tomatoes, cheese, and of course, gravy); the small order was twice what could be eaten. Joe had the meatloaf special; we both had lunch for tomorrow in to-go boxes. In the rain, we walked out onto the boardwalk to look at the bay. The wind was...

Aug 7, 2014 - Au Revoir Quebec

Heading northeast, we continued along St. Laurent, which widens along the way. Views of farms, yellow and purple wildflowers, and canola (prominent in Manitoba, on our AK trip), were followed by the 1697 town Trois Pistoles (three shillings, not pistols). We turned south on 132. Every village has its elegant church/cathedral, some multi-steepled. We passed more farms, rolling hills, and some large logging yards - more wood than I've ever seen in one place. We made sandwiches and ate on the go. Two wide load transports slowed traffic, as did...

Aug 20, 2012 - Petit Rocher

Day Sixty One – Aug 20 Petit Rocher 103k We crossed a time zone when we entered New Brunswick. We are now on Maritime Time. I forgot to set my alarm and didn’t get up till 6:40 ADT. That is okay because today is a short ride day and an 8:30 start still gave me lots of time to get to camp by mid-afternoon. First order of the ride was to ride by the big salmon in Campbellton. That done I headed off on route 134 which would follow the coast for most of the day. Dalhousie is only 30k into the day but with the late start in the day it would...

She was recovered from the fall enough to ride in the truck to hospital to get checked over and then taxied to camp. We rode out around 8:30 in the rain and were to ride in the rain all the way to camp. All three of the...

Aug 20, 2008 - 61 Petit Rocher

This was a day of relatively easy riding and great coastal scenery. Many riders made a stop at the 4km mark to check out the big salmon in Campleton. It was a little hard to find following the cue sheet since the sheet indicated a right turn that should have been a left turn. However ,as the photo shows I found it. Dalhousie provided second breakfast at a place with a lot of regulars. I found it by asking a workman the best place for breakfast. Many other tour riders followed me in. A sone would expect the breakfast was great and the...
