We plan on leaving early because the weather forecast has thunder showers for midday. We want to beat the rain, or at least the thunder. We are packed and ready to roll by 7:30. The wind is still blowing us north. It starts out cloudy then it becomes mainly sunny and warm. And getting...

Sep 8, 2016 - Oil change on RV

- - Enjoyed the drive on familiar roads to stay at the Grey Rock casino, for the night. There was an interesting RV there, did not talk to the guy, as it was pretty rainy. We had lunch at the Back 40 restaurant in the Big Stop Irving. The rain storms were very heavy, of course had to slow down a bit. The net morning we were booked in for an RV oil Change, Mechantek, and then on the road again.

Jul 8, 2016 - Edmunston & RV Maintenace

We headed out for Edmundston, New Brunswick, this morning. I only had one thing on my mind today. Get an oil change in the Motor-home, I am a bit over but we have been using synthetic oil. We rolled in to the Casino about 2 pm, Thanks to the Ford dealer who made an appointment at a trucking shop, for 03:30 today at Mecanitek Centre du Camion . So wow that was great. The Walmart was full of RV's so we stayed on this end of town, at the Casino, very quite.

May 28, 2016 - Hopewell Cape to Saint-Jacques, NB

After a very stormy night of thunder, lightening and heavy rain, we packed up and headed west, yes you heard that right, west!! More places still not open until sometime in June. The Train Museum and the Potato Museum, sigh, have to read about them instead. We stopped for the night just outside Edmundston at a campground at Saint-Jacques, beside the river and quite full of seasonal campers. Spring is more advanced here than in Nova Scotia, trees definitely more open amd showing signs of renewed life of spring and summer. The roads are about...

Sep 13, 2015 - Rain, wind and Pepe le pew

Today was a very very loooong day....it rained all night, finally letting up just before dawn. We started out before 9 heading east toward Montreal. It wasn't long before we caught up to the rain again...and boy was it coming down hard. And of course some pretty strong winds to add insult to injury. We were glad to be doing this area on a Sunday, but I think now it wouldn't have made much difference. The highway going south/east of Montreal is a toll, this one was at least only $3.70. The bill for our toll around Toronto will be in the...

Aug 3, 2015 - What a way to end the trip!

Today we spent the better part of the morning enjoying the water on a large catamaran for a whale watching adventure. And such an ADVENTURE it turned out to be. No sea sickness or green faces on anyone, but lots of wildlife to be observed and photographed. I tried my best as it was tricky on the waves and even trickier to know where they were going to pop up. That being said I think I got some winning ones. The crew of Guoddy Link Whale Watching were FANTASTIC! Where other boats drove past or in the other direction, our captain and crew...

Jul 29, 2014 - Edmundston NB

July 22, 2014, We drove to from Halifax to Custom Spring and Welding in Thorburn, Nova Scotia. This is where we were told that we could get the equalizer fixed on the RV. We met the owner Rick, who was extremely nice and helpful. He couldn’t fix the equalizer but was able to change a lug nut that had been needing changed since Fl. & he put air in all the tires and wouldn’t take a dime. Real nice guy. We drove back about 10 miles and parked at a real nice campground, Harbor Lights in Pictou. The campground sits right on the bay. After...

Jul 9, 2013 - Edmundston, New Brunswick

Today we left Levis, Quebec around 1015. This much lateh than usual aqd it was because Ross was waiting for a return call Mcd, the shade manufacturer. The call never came Ross is not a happy camper. We drove about 200 miles to Edmundston, New Brunswick. Ross had programmed a well rated campground just north of Edmundston using the Latitude/ Longitude given in the Woodall's Camping Book. It didn't work. So we found the Wlmart and were prepared to spend the night there and we had received permission from the store managment. However, we had...

Aug 19, 2012 - Day 35 - Quebec to Edmundston, New Brunswick

Our drive today was a little longer, bringing us to Edmundston, New Brunswick about 2:00pm. We found a campsite beside the St John River at Riverside Iroquois Campground, we were the first customer of the day and had the place to ourselves until suppertime when maybe six more campers had joined us. The Camp Host was very friendly and gave us a bunch of advice on where to go and where to stay on our route. The campsite was very parklike, green and shady, but the trees were cut back enough that they did not pose a problem for Garry's...

Jul 30, 2012 - Olympic Chicken and Iceberg

We are enjoying watching the Olympics. The bicycle race was exciting as the route went through Dorking, Surrey south of London where our friends Susan and Robert live. In 2005 a sculpture of a Dorking chicken was erected in a round-about to celebrate the bird that has long been associated with the town. Susan sent a photo of the chicken decked out in all its Olympic glory so I wanted to share it with everyone. Then my sister Betty called and said cousin Sandi and her family also saw the race as it passed through West Byfleet, Surrey. It...

Jul 18, 2012 - Edmundston, NB

Got up 6:45 and left by 7:15. We were in line for the Tadoussac ferry by 7:25. No problem. We drove south to San Simeon to catch the next ferry to the other side of the St. Lawrence and on to New Brunswick. Weeeelllll, when we pulled into the parking lot a ferry worker came over and measured the clearance at the bottom of our trailer, it was 11 inches. He said we would have to 13 to take the 9:30 ferry because the tide was low, otherwise we had to wait for the 1:00pm ferry. Well, what can you do. We made lemonade and found a place to park...
