Jul 1, 2019 - Happy Canada Day
Trip update – 32 days and counting It does not seem like we have been gone so long from home – our “schedules” have been busy and very pleasurable making time fly. We certainly miss our friends and family but have felt so welcomed in Canada. Today is Canada Day; flags and Maple Leaf signs are all over. It all looks festive! Western Canada, particularly, seems to be quite outdoors oriented. During our campground stays we have seen relatively few Americans. As we travel, we notice lots of RV sales centers and notice more RV rental companies...Jump to full entry

Jun 15, 2014 - One of our two sea days
Woke up this morning looking out our floor to ceiling window and watching Vancouver Island go past. We will be at sea all day traveling to our first destination, Ketchikan, which we will get to tomorrow morning. So a nice lazy day. So after getting up, showering and getting dressed, it is now 10AM and we head up to the Garden Cafe which is the buffet. When we are at home, Charlotte cannot stand to even walk through a buffet, but here on the ship it is her second favorite restaurant (Cagney's is first). Go figure. It is a good meal that you...Jump to full entry
Jul 19, 2013 - Ferry Ride to Vancouver Island - Day 49
July 19, 2013..Ferry ride. We left Vancouver and headed north on Hwy. 99 to the village of Horseshoe Bay. While we waited to board, we walked around the little village. We boarded the ferry about 9:45 am and rode it to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. It was a very smooth ride across the Strait of Georgia, about an hour and 40 minutes. When we disembarked, we turned south on Trans-Canada Hwy. 1 towards Victoria. It was sunny and about 80 degrees. We stopped in Duncan for a few supplies and then continued south to Victoria. We checked in at Fort...Jump to full entry
Ik kan dus nog even mijn ogen dicht doen, want been there, done...Jump to full entry
Dec 29, 2007 - Getting Ready to go
Been busy getting the RV ready to go. There is so much to learn and plan! Dave has changed all the fuses and light bulbs, checked wiring, electrical systems, water system, propane systems and is now trying to set up the TV antenna to keep us connected. Of course I have been making sure that the kitchen is stocked with essentials and making many check lists which I just might remember to look at sometimes. Tai will be getting his short summer haircut and groom on Monday! He has his own checklist of toys and treats. We have lots of Spanish...Jump to full entry
Dec 18, 2007 - where are all the taxis?
Nearly missed the flight out of Vancouver. Our taxi did not turn up .. we waited for an hour. Eventually got hold of Megan, and she drove us to the airport. The staff at AirCanada were quite shirty with us ... "you are meant to check in at a least an hour before" .. I mean, we were 2mnutes past that deadline, and if the AirCanada international check was situated where is is meant to be (like in the international departures area) we would have been on time. Anyway, fortunately I have previously checked in online, so we managed to squeak in.Jump to full entry
Aug 18, 2007 - Island Retreat!
Saturday afternoon, August 18 It's raining. Again. Hearing "rain again" so often, you probably think I'm getting tired of it. Truth is, it's been both refreshing and aggravating! When we're in the car, trying to locate sights, hampered by a deluge of rain falling on the windshield, it is, admittedly, not my favorite thing. On the other hand, the sound of softly falling rain is quite soothing. Makes a body want to slow down, stay absolutely still and enjoy the moment. So that's what I'm doing - listening ... enjoying ... writing. And I...Jump to full entry
