Jul 21, 2018 - Sun Peaks

Early start again. Bags out for 6.45am & setting off at 7.30. It is raining again and is chilly. First day both of us are in long trousers, don’t want to feel as cold as we did yesterday. Set off for boat trip of Maligne Lake and en route spot a moose, which we are informed is pretty rare. Our first stop en route however is at Medicine Lake. This lake virtually empties every autumn/winter we are told, refilling itself with the melting of the snows throughout spring and summer. All around we witness black dead trees following a huge forest...

Sep 15, 2008 - Vernon, Sun Peaks

We arrived in Vernon to our RV lot on September 6. The neighbour across from us has been keeping up the grass cutting and hedge maintenance, and the site has been rented out almost every day since April. It's a great spot! When we were in Victoria, Larry had found out that a lady that used to work with him at Electrohome lived in Vernon. So we looked Joyce up and they came over one afternoon for drinks. On the 10th, Larry and Maureen went golfing at Spallumcheen. On the first hole we discovered other friends of ours, Ken and Mavis, who...

Jul 1, 2005 - Merritt to Pritchard - 147km

Happy Canada Day!! :) We woke up this morning at 5.00...TS had spent most of the night tossing and turning fretting about heat, distance, dehydration, etc., so needless to say, he wasn't too well rested. Read: cranky. ;) We packed up our stuff and had a breakfast of pancakes and some yogurt with gorp. We were on the road by 7.00 am. As it turns out, this was the best ride day by far...quiet roads, generous tailwinds, great weather, and spectacular Northern Okanagan scenery - rolling hills, green as far as the eyes can see, lakes, and...
