Jun 19, 2014 - Second Sea day, coming toward home

No port today, cruising all day. The weather is terrible, windy and raining, with rough seas. We slept in late and then went and got breakfast at the buffet. It looked like everyone slept in today. We had gotten here at about 10:15 and sat down with our breakfast just in time as they close at 10:30. Or they tried to close, it looks like a lot of people had the same idea to sleep in today and they came streaming in at about 10:30 and filling the place. Sunday, March 6, 2011 Absence of Time, Queen Charlotte City, Haida Gwaii The first week of the First Nations and Natural Resources module is over. Students began their presentations this week covering jurisdiction, self-government and legal issues. We had to cancel our field trips to the Skidegate Haida Immersion Program (SHIP) and to Old Massett because of weather, but hope to fit them in this week and next. Haida Gwaii Semester

Feb 28, 2011 - Snowy Haida Gwaii

Monday, February 28, 2011 Absence of Time, Queen Charlotte City, Haida Gwaii First class of First Nations and Natural Resources is over. We spent the morning getting to know each other, reviewing the course outline and sharing concerns about First Nations and natural resources. They are a bright group, 19 in all (2 missing today). Haida Gwaii Semester

Feb 26, 2011 - Haida Gwaii Intro

Saturday, February 26, 2011 Absence of Time, Queen Charlotte City, Haida Gwaii Arrived on Thursday at 3 pm at Sandspit (pop 387), but ferry wasn't running because of high winds from the northeast (a rare occurrence apparently). Myself and a couple of other stranded travellers booked in at a local B&B, not knowing whether the ferry would cross. We bought groceries at the SuperValu and made a spaghetti dinner.
