We headed out from Valemount to the Highway 16 towards Mount Robson and Jasper. The road runs alongside the Fraser River and a number of lakes. At the Mt Terry Fox Viewpoint we got our first real view of Mount Robson. Mount Robson at 3,954 metres is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies and towers over the surrounding peaks. It is called “the Monarch of the Canadian Rockies” The Mount Robson Provincial Park which was established in 1913 protects the 224,966 hectares of mostly undisturbed wilderness around Mount Robson.
