The morning was nice and sunny for the first hour and that was great for the picture taking. Nov 6, 2009 - Westminster Abbey and the Power House

Today despite the rain we headed out along the north side of the Fraser River to the town of Mission. Mission was first established in 1891 as part of the “Great Land Sale” with buyers brought in via the CPR mainline from Vancouver and from eastern Canada. The name Mission City was chosen due to the site’s proximity to the historic St Mary’s Mission of the Oblate order just east of the town which was founded in 1868. In 1954, Benedictine monks obtained land near Mission, where they set up their Westminster Abbey and Seminary of Christ the...

This is our first riding day of the official Tour du Canada. Breakfast was from the truck, but served in the common room. So it is not quite the usual routine. We met for a group picture at the totem poles at UBC and then went a few kilometers to Spanish Banks Beach to do the traditional wheel dip in the Pacific. I had dipped in the Pacific farther west in Victoria, so I didn't need to do it again. Since we all started at the same time there were often large numbers of tour riders in sight. We could be identified by the Tour du Canada...

Hi Everyone. On the way north we ran into some very yucky weather….snow in April on the west coast. Not totally unheard of, but most definitely unusual. The snow hit us just around rush hour in the north bound Seattle / Everett area. This made for a very slow drive north. We drove up to the Sumas/Abbotsford crossing and once again had less than 10 minutes to wait to cross. We decided to stay in Mission last night at a local campground, Sun Valley Trout Park. This place was terrible! They charged $25.00 for a tent and the whole place...

Nov 29, 2007 - Mission BC

Thursday November 29...9:30pm After breakfast, we decided to put off the hot springs until after our hike. So we left Sherman parked where he was and walked down the road a bit to the start of the Cambell Lake Trail.. We had read that this trail was pretty steep, and even the sign at the bottom said it was for hikers who are "well prepared" and "in good physical condition". We figured we were good to go! It said it was 10 km's round trip to Cambell Lake...about 7.4 km's roundrip to a lookout where there's a helicopter landing pad, and about...
