Aug 19, 2017 - McBride, BC to Calagary, AB

Traveling through more lovely British Columbia. This road is surrounded by high mountains with wispy clouds sometimes reaching down to the road. Stayed overnight at the NV Mountainview Chalets and RV Park. After a quick breakfast we headed out one last time following Harry. Not far down the road he headed south toward Vancouver and eventually Olympia, WA and beyond. Bye Harry it's been a great adventure. Bill and I continued east toward Calgary where we stopped at the Calgary West Campground.

Aug 18, 2017 - NV Mountain View RV Park - McBride BC

The smoke was still reported as being HEAVY in south central BC and Bill was going to "test" out driving to Calgary, so Harry elected to join Bill and Meredith further east before heading south toward Vancouver. We stopped in McBride and at nice RV park and were again teased by the availability of a hot tub, but AGAIN it was for naught as it was broken :( Bill's ability to drive didn't seem to be hampered and after getting parked we grilled dinner and reminisced about the trip as we would be parting company the next day.

Aug 4, 2016 - McBride August 4

In all the years we have travelled in BC ,the cross road from Prince George to Tete Jaune Trans Canada Yellowhead 16 East has eluded us. We will now knock it off the list. We were disappointed in todays drive,it was just like the Coquihalla highway. It did not take us through the smaller communities that we like to traverse now. It was after we were about half way through our drive when we seen there was an alternate route just north of highway 16. Oh well...another trip another day. No reason to stay here another day so we are off to...

May 24, 2015 - Icefields Center to Beaverview Campground, near McBride, BC

Sunday, May 24, 2015 Icefields Center to Beaverview Campground, near McBride, BC 169 miles TRAVEL QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I'd rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city on earth." - Steve McQueen Back at you, Steve! It was incredible to wake up to the sun shining out onto the Athabasca and Columbia Glaciers and know that but for the few other hardy rv'ers who camped in this parking lot with us, there were no other people for quite a few miles! Alarm went off at 6:45 but it was hard to get my eyes open; I did sleep better than last...

Sep 28, 2013 - Come on Rockies

Got a late start today. Mike got the front wheel bearing fixed this morning. I had some time washing my hair and doing my nails etc etc. it was nice. I listened to Abba on my iPad which I couldn't do if Mike was around. It is the first time since we have been away that we haven't done everything together. Washing, shopping cooking whatever. Went for a walk around an ancient forest today. Really great. Some of the trees are up to 2000 years old. They are in an area protected from 2 mountain ranges. So big and old and majestic. We came...

Aug 23, 2012 - Prince George Past McBride Along The Yellowhead

8-23 Prince George Past McBride Along The Yellowhead Sunny And 60 Degrees Stayed at The Beaverview RV Park And Campground Mike had made an early appointment today to have the trailer axles either repaired or remade and replaced. We finally got a little break …they were both bent, but not too bad to be fixed. After evaluating the size of the axles and the weight of the trailer loaded, they decided we really were OK with what we have, that the problem had just been the terrible roads. So, a lot of banging and several hours later, we were on...

Aug 28, 2011 - Baker Creek Rest Area, BC - Heading East

(Ron Writing) We had a relaxing morning before we drove over to the visitor center to use the WiFi and get email and post the journal entry. We also fueled-up the truck before leaving Prince George heading east on the Yellowhead Highway. As we left Prince George we crossed the mighty Fraser River and most of our drive today followed the Fraser River Valley. There aren’t many towns along this route but there is a lot of beautiful scenery with heavily forested mountains. The forests have a good mixture of hardwoods and softwoods so I expect...

Aug 10, 2011 - McBride, BC

We all got around in the morning, shared some morning time and then proceeded to ready our rigs for departure. Saying goodbye was not necessarily bad, as we know we will see Rod & Joanne again back in Wisconsin, but UWE and Anna, may not cross our paths again soon. They are such a nice couple who came from trying and humble beginnings in Europe after the war, but made their way to where they are now. Of course, Uwe being an engineer made our connection easy. But eventually, we all left one by one, and are now on our own to get home, however...

Aug 25, 2010 - McBride, BC

Campground: Beaverview RV Park Fortunately the rain stopped, a good omen for Sally and Mike’s drive home. We followed them for a few miles but we turned off and they went straight south. We are so sad! We followed the Fraser River to McBride and, of course, at one rest stop the boys had to fish. McBride BC is a delightful little town located in the Robson Valley by the Fraser River. It was established in 1913 as a divisional point on the railroad and the train station is a central point of the McBride landscape. It’s very flat in the town....

North to Alaska 2010

Jul 21, 2010 - Houston, BC to McBride, BC

Well, we had a day of not much scenery - just getting into Jasper area, seeing mountains all around again. We are staying at Beaverview RV Park, ~100 miles before Jasper. This is a very nice park, on a river - but not many skitters at all. There is NO gravel - everything is grass (altho some sites are not too level) - some in the shade & most in the sun. The best part is that they also have excellent internet connections! Wow, 2 nites in a row & once again, it's only $28! The hosts are very nice & helpful & we both really like this...

Sep 18, 2009 - Exploration Museum & Ancient Forest Trail

Friday, September 18, 2009. Pull-Out Between McBride and Dunster, Bristish Columbia Exploration Museum & Ancient Forest Trail Jonathan and I drove into Prince George today to the Exploration Museum. We had a little bit of a hard time finding the place but once we did we had fun. They had several neat displays. There was a motor that Jonathan enjoyed working with. They had dinosaur bones on display. There was a sports booth where people could try out hockey, soccer or basketball. Jonathan and I even had the opportunity to play a game of pool...
