Aug 7, 2017 - Sandcastles

Day 11, Leah: Today we made the trip from Quallicum Beach to Nanaimo and Ladysmith. We had a huge breakfast and enjoyed watching quail passing through the back yard. We had even lucked out and saw a white tail deer in the golf course that they back onto the night before. We also spotted a small fawn on the side of the highway on the way there. We took our time packing up at Aunt Lenea and Uncle Jack’s. Eventually we said our goodbyes and continued on the ocean view highway. We stopped just down the road in Parksville to check out the sand...

Mar 28, 2016 - Yellow Point Cranberries

We had another wonderful day exploring. There is so much to see and do in this area, we have been staying super busy. Our first stop was in the town of Cedar, named for the thick strands of Western Red Cedar trees growing in the area. Cedar is about ten minutes north of Ladysmith. While we know that our blogs have not been filled with exciting, risk-taking "adventures", they do reflect, I think, who we are and the things we are interested in and care about - the history and geography of this...

Nov 27, 2008 - Festival of Lights

Hi Everyone. Nov 26th, we travelled south to Nanaimo to stay two nights at the Buccaneer Inn. The owners were very helpful and they go the extra mile to keep a clean, top notch hotel with a number of amenities that you generally find at a higher priced location. We would happily recommend this place to everyone. As you see from our photo we had a nice view of the Nanaimo Harbour and luckily, the weather was cold, but sunny for most of the time. The next day we took a short trip south to a small community called Ladysmith to take part in the...

Jun 10, 2006 - Canada - Vancouver
