Jul 31, 2017 - Seal bay cg

We went to downtown Duncan to look at some of the totems and try to find the center that had lots of carvings and actual artists working the last time we came through here 15 or so years ago. No luck so we headed up the island to find another place to stay. We had hoped to find a place overlooking the water but apparently everyone else has the same idea. Stopped at the French Creek seafood market and bought fresh halibut and side striped prawns for dinner. After 2 stops, we found the Seal bay cg which has a small pond where we're camped. A...

May 22, 2017 - We are ready Locked and loaded

Hello all of our trip journal buddies. For those that may not have heard, we have made the decision to load up and hit the road for parts as yet unknown. We thought of doing this 2 years ago but bought this house instead, but this winter we decided to sell, store our stuff for awhile, hit the road for parts unknown as of yet. House sold in 36hrs, packers/movers are here tomorrow to load up for storage. We are presently going to live in the M/H as we meander across this great country of ours. We have planned several routes as of now, will...

Well folks, after 4620 miles, here we are pulling into our lil place called home. MH performed flawlessly, (6.6mi/USgal) towing, happy with that. No problems at border, paid a little duty for some excesses we had and then drove in the only rain we had on whole trip home, go figu8re eh. Have the rig to unload, stories to tell and fit back in island time. See you all later, hope you enjoyed my small notes.

Jun 11, 2016 - Courtenay/Comox

@@@@@@@ KAPOORS ON THE ROAD We planned to play nine holes of golf at the beautiful Crown Isle Golf Club in Comox. We had actually stayed in one of the condos about twenty years ago when a friend of ours was working at a TD Bank in Comox and she wasn’t able to find suitable accommodation at the time. The bank agreed to rent one of the condos at the Crown Isle course on a long-term basis so that she could stay there. It was a beautiful one-bedroom condo and we made the trip over from Vancouver to spend some time with her, bringing her sister...

Apr 2, 2016 - Finex/Arrival Valley Vista/Home

We're back. After meeting one of the mosty gracious border agents ever, we were across the border and onto a ferrey ride. We watched a vehicle from Nevada miss 2 Victoria ferries only to find out after BC ferries staff tracked her down that she was going to Nanaimo lol. On the boat and off to Victoria to see grandkids to hand over some sovvies we bought for them and then pointed the rig north. We arrived home about 5ish and let out a big collective sigh. We've unloaded the rig finally and have had 2 of the best nights sleeps in a long time....

New route 15/16

Mar 29, 2015 - Finex/Arrival Valley Vista/Home

Well folks it all ended today at 1PM as we pulled into our home base and started the task of unloading the mother ship. Enjoyed a great meal with the grandkids in Victoria last night and catching up on all the things teenagers do today. Woke up to the sounds of pouring rain but it didn't deter us from packing up and pointing the rig at the Malahat and the mid island area. We had to make the requisite stop in Nanaimo for a timmies, jury is still out on that, it didn't do a lot for us so maybe we didn't miss like we thought we would. Arrived...

Jan 24, 2015 - Comox update

Update. I flew home last Friday the 16th to have my left leg looked at. Reason I came home it was cheaper than paying the 1000USD deductible I selected erroneously on our medical coverage application DOH, will certainly reread my next application for sure. Phoenix-Calgary-comox 195$ returning tomorrow for 245$ so you can see the dollar savings for sure. Went to ER Saturday morning tks wayne and had blood work ultrasound and Dr visit done by 1230. He says it was just a minor swelling in small vein so good to go. If it had been in large vein...

Oct 22, 2014 - At the starting line

We are at the starting line, rig is being loaded with all the trip necessities and it is RAINING. We had the driest summer on record here on the island and boy has mother nature allowed us to recoup all the rain we need in the last few days. Read on line our lake has risen almost 2 meters this week and water is ready to spill over the dam, generators are running full tilt and fishermen have been warned to stay out of the river to due to high flows. Went to Costco and dined out tonite with a monstrous hot dog and of course the requiste...

Jun 1, 2014 - Girlfriends at the Spa

Pam spent the past 3 days catching up with her elementary/junior high/high school gal pals at the Kingfisher Spa on Vancouver Island. 7 women in 2 rooms for 3 days. We kicked off the weekend with a fun bike tour through the countryside surrounding Cournenay BC with stops at a glass works factory, a fruit wine farm and a chocolate shop. The rest of the weekend was spent eating some great food, drinking a little wine, shopping, doing a little yoga, indulging in some spa treatments and a whole lotta laughing. Thanks Gals! Love you all!

Mar 25, 2014 - Final Numbers

Well the motorhome is unloaded, some not all of the stuff is put away, got 4 months of mail to look at yet and of course the ol taxes sometime in the near future. This rain and coolness is taking some getting used to but brighter days are ahead. I am including some numbers for those that like to read that type of thing just to give you and idea of the logistics of such a trip(I like doing it any way its interesting) 1. Motorhome: Total distance driven 4060 miles. Fuel used 642 gals costing 2220USD averaging 6.4 MPG US. 2. Car: Total...

Mar 24, 2014 - Home Base Finex Nascar 2014

Well after many decision changes we decided to push right on thru to home today. It was a rather eventful day to top it all off. Weather was good until 5 miles from the border and then the rain started, so much for a clean rig and car. Up to the crossing and wow no savings to be had at the duty free shop anymore, at the border and into the office to do paperwork for dolly(20 min and done with payment of GST of course) and on our way. Decide to make a run for the ferry, will be tight but what the heck. Onto road 99 following GPS and wait a...
